Baal Pharisim

Baal-Pharisim, "the master of the divisions or god of the scattered;" as the place was afterwards called, in memory that David became master, and put the enemy to flight, taking their idols, (C.) which were unable to save themselves. H. --- (2Sam 5:20), in the neighbourhood of the Valley of Raphaim, S. of Jerusalem.

2 Sam 5:20 • And David came to Baal Pharisim: and defeated them there, and he said: The Lord hath divided my enemies before me, as waters are divided. Therefore the name of the place was called Baal Pharisim.
