St. Ignatius of Antioch
Tradition holds that St. Ignatius was the child whom the Savior took up in His arms, as described in Mark 9:35. He was also known as Theophorus, "held by God". He was also counted among the auditors of St. John's Gospel. In the 11th year of Trajan, he was sentenced to die for confessing the Catholic faith. He was taken to the Flavian Amphitheatre in Rome and given to wild beasts, and so gained the crown of martyrdom.
